Growing up, how many times were we told to eat our vegetables?

But, when it came to fruits nearly every child would eat those.  Perhaps we know instinctually  they are good for us, plus they taste good.

As we grow older, we sometimes, forget how great fresh, in season, fruits and vegetables taste.  We have gotten use to purchasing frozen vegetables and even fresh vegetable all year round.

The only problem with that is that those out of season fruits and vegetables usually come from another country and have been picked before their time.  They are not given time to ripen on the vine, and therefore don't have all the sweetness they would have if they were in season.

But I must admit, oranges and tangerines during the winter are a treat, and we need all the natural vitamin C we can get.  As for bananas, all year long is good for me.  Apples, oranges and bananas are a winter staple.

Here are some simple and easy recipes to enjoy.  If you have time, and can pull the kids away from the video games, or texting, have them help you make cook.  You both will have fun and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
